DESCRIPTION
A characterful and bright 3/4 bedroom detached cottage dating back to c.1798 situated in the desirable village of Brimscombe. The flexible accommodation is arranged over three floors with a cosy feel throughout. The property is entered via a central hallway which leads to the right into the sitting room with a wood burning stove and original stone feature fireplace. To the left of the hallway is the dining room, also with a wood burning stove, followed by the kitchen with a pretty stable door. On the first floor is a large principal bedroom with an abundance of built in wardrobes, a second double bedroom and the bathroom with both bath and freestanding shower. The top floor has two further rooms taking advantage of some wonderful exposed wood beams, which are currently used as a third bedroom and office/snug.
To one side of the property is a gravelled driveway with off-street parking for several cars leading to a front lawned area enclosed by stone walls. At the other side is an enclosed additional lawned area, leading to a workshop/storage space with timber stairs to two raised decking platforms taking full advantage of the wonderful views. The land directly behind the property is owned by the National Trust which ensures full privacy and seclusion.
SITUATION
Glen View is situated in the hamlet of Burleigh, approximately one mile from the centre of Minchinhampton and on the north side of Minchinhampton Common. Being conveniently close to the historic market town of Minchinhampton and immediately adjacent to acres of unspoilt countryside, in the stewardship of the National Trust, makes the area very popular. Burleigh has many fine old properties built in the weathered local stone, which blends seamlessly into the surroundings. There are lovely walks, and three golf courses in the vicinity along with many other excellent facilities; these include a general store, butcher, chemist, Post Office, two popular cafes and a bistro Pub. Nearby Stroud has a major Waitrose and three other supermarkets, an award winning Farmers' Market and a wide range of independent retailers, as does Nailsworth on the opposite side of the Common. London is within a two hour drive, and circa 90 minutes by train, from Stroud station. There are excellent schools in the area, including sought after boys and girls grammar schools in Stroud.
DIRECTIONS
From our Minchinhampton office, head along West End and proceed along Windmill Road in the direction of Minchinhampton Common. Turn right on Cirencester Road and then immediately right again onto Brimscombe Hill. Glen View can then be found approximately half a mile down on your right hand side.
