DESCRIPTION
Halfpenny offers a stylishly renovated village home in the heart of Painswick. A combination of superb craftsmanship, together with a sympathetic eye, has resulted in an exceptional fusion of period charm alongside modern updates. Steps lead to the main entrance with a pretty door opening into a spacious reception hall, currently utilised as a snug. An aged flagstone floor, deep window seats with shutters and stunning ceiling beams, set the tone for the remainder of the house. This is a home steeped in history with charming period features around every turn. The sitting room leads off the main reception and is a lovely bright room with feature fireplace and wood burner inset, providing the perfect 'cosy-up' for the colder months. Deep window seats offer an ideal perch to relax and watch the world go by. A home office/study provides a useful work station. The kitchen is set to the rear of the cottage and is clearly the heart of the home. This delightful open-plan space works equally well for entertaining as it does for family suppers. The kitchen opens into a superb oak-framed sun room, providing a great spot for friends and family to gather whilst cooking up a feast. A utility provides a useful room to hide-away laundry. A studio offers a great addition to the ground floor; previously utilised as a fourth bedroom, the current owners use this space as a fabulous large home office but with its own exterior access, the room offers a host of potential uses. A covered spiral staircase leads down to a full-height cellar, currently used for storage but with the potential to create a gym/teenage den. The principal suite is located on the first floor and spans the full length of the front of the house. A real 'statement' room with magnificent valley views, the suite comprises a large bedroom, leading open-plan to a separate dressing/sitting/cot room. An en-suite shower room leads off the dressing room and there is ample built-in storage. A stylish family bathroom is also located at this level. A newly installed staircase with a magnificent round feature window, offers magical views across the roof tops and out to the valley beyond. Two further bedrooms are located on the top floor, both beautifully presented and with wonderful valley views.
The landscaped garden offers a tranquil haven. Set to the rear and side of the property, well-stocked borders bursting with flowers create a magical English Country garden. A Shepherd's Hut with power supply and wi-fi, offers superb guest accommodation or useful home office. A patio with pretty pergola provides a wonderful area for alfresco dining whilst soaking up the panorama. There is also a newly installed shed plus a bike store. Street parking is available on Tibbiwell Lane, directly outside the property.
