DESCRIPTION
The Old Chapel House is a perfect example of the adage, 'home is where the heart is". Recognizing the potential of this period building, the vendors set about making it the perfect home in which to bring up their young family. The house has been sympathetically refurbished and is full of character, presented in soft pastel colours. A formal entrance hall with cloakroom and staircase off, is flanked by a sitting room and snug. The comprehensively appointed kitchen is west facing and has an adjoining breakfast room, plus utility room. There are 4 double bedrooms, a full bathroom with both bath and shower and a separate family shower room. The views overlooking the Woodchester Valley and its beautiful vineyard on the slopes opposite are spectacular and can be enjoyed from almost every room, with conveniently located window seats. The private drive leads through the mature garden to a sweep at the back. The 1/3 acre south facing plot complements the house and includes a specially designed sunken terrace from which to admire the spectacular summer evening sunsets.
LOCATION
Amberley, with its panoramic westerly views, is set below Minchinhampton Common, a marvellous open space comprising over 650 acres in the care of The National Trust, free for anyone to roam and enjoy. The Old Chapel House is tucked away near the heart of the village, within walking distance of its flourishing Primary school and two popular pubs. Just down the hill is Nailsworth, a thriving market town full of independent retailers including its famous delicatessen - Williams Kitchen, with its fresh fish counter. Nearby Stroud has a major Waitrose store plus several other leading supermarkets. London Paddington is circa 90 minutes from Stroud mainline Station, while Cirencester, Bath and Cheltenham are also within easy reach by car. A great place to bring up a family, Amberley is also conveniently located for a variety of good schools including Beaudesert Park just across the Common and both boys and girls grammar schools in Stroud. There are two golf clubs in Minchinhampton with three separate courses and numerous other sports clubs with facilities for the young, as well as local livery stables.
DIRECTIONS
From our Minchinhampton Office, proceed along West End into Windmill Road and at the staggered junction on the Common continue towards Amberley with the reservoir on your right. Drop down the hill and immediately after the Amberley Inn, take the next right back into the village. The gate at the entrance to The Old Chapel House will then be seen straight ahead, as the lane bears round to the right, on up the hill back into the village.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Old Chapel House is attached on its east gable to a small period cottage, in separate ownership.
