Hazel Cottage is a cosy and homely cottage in an elevated and hidden setting just a short walk from the bustling and popular town of Nailsworth. Set back from the road, the main house is approached via steps through the front garden and a patio area taking first advantage of the views.
On entering the property, immediately in front of you is a welcoming family room with ornate stone fireplace and open wood fire. On the other side of the property is the sitting room which leads through to the dining room and kitchen which offer a large, contemporary and open-plan entertaining space, very much the heart of the home. There is a door from the kitchen out to a very secluded seating area. Leading off the kitchen is a useful utility room and guest WC.
On the first floor are 4 double bedrooms each with their own charm. The principal bedroom is a wonderfully bright room with dual aspect southerly views, whilst the 2nd bedroom has an external door which accesses another raised patio area.
The main garden is to the rear of the property, terraced with lawned and seating areas taking full advantage of the views. There is a gate leading out to Whips Lane which offering some excellent walking routes towards The Common.
Watledge is a charming hamlet within walking distance of the vibrant market town of Nailsworth. The hamlet comprises a pretty lane flanked by beautiful period properties. Located at the foot of a steep sided valley, Watledge is wonderfully peaceful, with minimal passing traffic, yet still within easy access of amenities and within minutes from open countryside, including Minchinhampton Common, offering 100s of acres of National Trust commonland.
Nearby Nailsworth is a buzzing market town with numerous independent retailers, restaurants and cafes. There is also a Morrisons supermarket and a popular delicatessen, William's Kitchen. Stroud is circa ten minutes drive and has several major supermarkets, including a Waitrose, as well as an award winning Saturday Farmers' Market. One of the key draws to the area is the excellent choice of schools, in both the state and private sector. There are sought after grammar schools in Stroud, Gloucester and Cheltenham and in the private sector, Beaudersert Park School is only a five minute drive up the hill and Westonbirt School in Tetbury and Wycliffe in Stroud, are both easily accessible. There is also an excellent choice of schools in Cheltenham. The surrounding countryside offers a lovely source of walks with good pubs to explore and there are three challenging golf courses in nearby Minchinhampton.
From our Minchinhampton office head along West End, leading into Windmill Road towards Minchinhampton Common. At the junction, turn left and head down the steep hill towards Nailsworth. Just before the cattle grid on the sharp bend, turn right along a small lane leading to Watledge. Continue along the lane for circa half a mile and Hazel Cottage will be found on the right hand side. Parking is located either on Watledge itself or on a small lane (Whips Lane) which is found just past the house on the right hand side.
