LOCATION
Saul is an attractive quiet hamlet, on the Severn estuary, west of Stroud and about ten miles south of Gloucester. Although rural and surrounded by Cotswold countryside, Saul is not isolated and Thatched Cottage is situated in the heart of the village within close proximity to the church, Ship Inn public house and Saul Junction Marina with its facilities and towpath along the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal. There are local amenities including a primary school in the neighbouring village of Frampton on Severn, which is reputed to have the longest village green in England extending to some 20 acres, around which are further pretty thatched cottages, distinctive period homes, and cricket played on the green whilst ducks and geese mill around several ponds. Frampton has two public houses and a community shop/post office where everyday essentials can be purchased.
The A38 and M5 motorway are within two to three miles and provide easy access to Tesco and Retail Centre at Quedgeley, the City of Gloucester, Cheltenham, The Midlands and Bristol. Mainline railway stations at Stonehouse and Stroud bring London within 90 minutes travelling time.
